The world is being taken over.
And the conqueror is denim.
From jeans and jackets to dresses and shirts denim has diversified to include all the clothing items needed to wear an entire outfit of solid denim.
Yet denim and jeans can be tricky to care for. One trip in the dryer can shrink a pair of jeans down a size and change their color.
Some consumers embrace not taking care of their denim to achieve a certain look while others go to extremes to maintain the original look of their jeans.
TCC student Cornesha Dericho, who will be graduating this year, said she definitely has diverse denim items.
“I feel like I own about 10, 12 pairs of jeans,” Dericho said. “Denim jackets I only own two, and I also own boots, denim boots.”
JaNia Taylor, who is a second-year student at TCC, also has extensive denim.
“Out of my whole wardrobe I would say 75% of denim,” Taylor said.
Both Dericho and Taylor said washing jeans correctly is an important part of jean care.
Dericho said she is careful when she washes her jeans to preserve the jeans original fit.
“I wash ‘em but I don’t dry them,” she said. “I let them air dry because I don’t want them to shrink in the dryer or anything.”
Taylor said she tries to avoid washing her jeans too frequently
“I know you supposed to wash your clothes all the time, but I try not to wash them over and over again because you know they start to wear down and the color starts to change,” Taylor said.
Whether the rips are DIY or produced in a factory a chunky pair of ripped jeans are low-key and perfect for long flights or a casual coffee dates.
For the bold, an all denim outfit looks almost couture
The jean skirt doesn’t have to just be an edgy summer outfit. Pair with more classic elements and a light coat for a timeless look.
