This event took place in the Student Union from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Students got to show their support with pink ribbons and bracelets, offered by SLICE. Student enjoyed cotton candy, pink lemonade, and popcorn served by the SLICE office and a dance circle took place. At this event Amber and Asta interviewed a SLICE faculty member on the event.

The Talon: “Why do you think this event is important?”

SLICE Staff Member: “This event and also my other events bring awareness to all different types of cancer not just breast cancer.”

The Talon: “Can you describe was at the event?”

SLICE Staff Member: “My plan was to decorate the campus in pink. But mother nature didn’t allow me to do that. So, we streamed the pillars, the stairwells, we’re doing pink lemonade, pink cups, we have wristbands, and ribbons. We have a couple of banners that students, the faculty and staff can sign. We have music, we have TCC cheerleaders doing routines. We have pink cotton candy and different flavors, we have popcorn. It’s a time to bring the students together and bring awareness to the campus as a whole.” [sic]

The Talon: “Why is Breast Cancer Awareness important to you?”

SLICE Staff Member: “To me personally, I don’t have any (problems) with any of my relatives, as far as I know of, having Breast cancer.” He enjoys “seeing the passion in students wanting to push for breast cancer awareness.”

The Talon: “Why is Breast Cancer Awareness important for society?”

SLICE Staff Member: “I think more of the male population need more awareness, because there’s a lot of males that don’t know that they can get Breast cancer and it would be best if it’s more pushed for the males also to get checked, not so much just promoting and pushing the women because that’s what we always affiliate Breast cancer awareness with, it’s always the females getting diagnosed but what about the males? So, I think it’s very important that we recognize that males and females can get diagnosed with Breast cancer.”
