The coronavirus pandemic has affected millions of people across the globe, including college students. Schools and colleges have shifted classes online for the rest of the semester, graduation and other school activities have been cancelled and students’ academic plans have been affected. Many Tallahassee Community College students returned home, some students stayed in town, but all of them are doing their best to fulfill their academic requirements to finish out the semester despite the societal upheaval.

Since the coronavirus crisis, life has been crazy for college students.

For me, moving home to Jupiter, Fla., from Tallahassee has been stressful. From living on my own for the past year and a half and moving at a pace that suits me, to moving back in with my family during this scary and stressful time, has been difficult.

TCC student Erica Paul poses for a photo on Harbor Island near Hobe Sound, Fla., in early April 5. She considers it social distancing at its finest.

My mother and father are working from home and I never have alone time. They have to adjust to having me back in the house where they had been living in peace and quiet. Let’s just say everyone is going a bit crazy.

As college classes continue online, it has been frustrating. I enjoyed going to class every day and being with my fellow students as well as seeing my professors on a daily basis.

Being on lockdown is a huge change in my life. I enjoy getting out of the house every so often to run errands for my parents, which has been keeping me sane for the last month.

I definitely miss living on my own with my three roommates back in Tallahassee. I will be glad when the stay at home order is over and life can get back to normal.
