College students are the upcoming generation of America and it is just as important as ever to make sure we are all participating in voting for our country’s leaders. With election day just days away, the Talon wanted to know how TCC students are feeling about this election. Here is what they had to say.

How old were you during the last election?

Cooper Molinary is a first-year TCC student from Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.

“Fifteen” -Cooper Molinary

“Sixteen” -Collin O’ Rourke

“Fifteen” -Riley McDowell

“Sixteen” -Zaine Richardson

Are you registered in Tallahassee or in your hometown?

“My hometown” -Cooper Molinary

“My hometown, Crystal River, Fla.” -Collin O’ Rourke

Collin O’ Rourke is a second-year TCC student from Crystal River, Fla.

“I felt that I would be most comfortable voting in my hometown.” -Riley McDowell

“Tallahassee, so I wouldn’t have to worry about driving home on election day.” -Zaine Richardson

Do you plan on voting in person or through the mail?

“In person.” -Cooper Molinary

“Through the mail, because I am living in Tallahassee.” -Collin O’ Rourke

“I will be doing early voting in person.” -Riley McDowell

“In person.” -Zaine Richardson

Which political issue are you interested in the most?

Riley McDowell is a first-year TCC student from Lake Weir, Fla.

“Tax cuts” -Cooper Molinary

“Taxes” -Collin O’ Rourke

“I noticed that the economy was doing really well before COVID-19 hit so I would like to see that be rebuilt or even see it grow to be better than it previously was.” -Riley McDowell

“I am interested to see how they continue to handle the coronavirus situation after the election.” -Zaine Richardson

What frustrates you the most about today’s politics?

“Today’s politics are ridiculous, the country is more split than it has ever been” -Cooper Molinary

Zaine Richardson is a second-year TCC student from Ocklawaha, Fla.

“The division of parties.” -Collin O’ Rourke

“The automatic assumptions made about an individual if you say you are from a certain party or people who treat you harshly after they realize you have a different opinion than them. I get frustrated when others can not be open-minded and respect others opinions. The beauty of being an American is that we are free to think or vote how we please so we do not all have to agree.” -Riley McDowell

“I would say the tension created between political parties. There is no reason to hate on somebody just because of their political beliefs.” -Zaine Richardson

As a college student what motivates you to participate in this election?

“I want to ensure that the people who value the things I value are elected.” -Cooper Molinary

“To make sure Donald Trump remains in office.” -Collin O’ Rourke

“We are the upcoming generation to enter “the real world” so I believe we need to make sure we all vote to create an America that we can grow and thrive in.” -Riley McDowell

“As a college student I feel that we should be motivated to vote because of the military men and women that sacrifice their lives everyday to protect our right to a free democracy.” -Zaine Richardson

We all have to remember that even a single vote can define how the next 4 years of our lives will play out. It is so important to make sure you are educated in today’s politics and that we all go out and vote on November 3rd!
