A young male was arrested Wednesday for stabbing another young male in the Tallahassee Community College Student Union on Tuesday, September 18.

Azrikam U. Franks, 26, was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center website.

TCC Police Department Chief Gregory Gibson reported in an email statement that the TCCPD received calls about a fight in the Student Union at 1:13 p.m.

“The dispute began at an off-campus location” and “the parties involved were not TCC students,” says Chief Gibson.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and is recovering, Chief Gibson added.

“The suspect apparently used an edged weapon to stab the victim several times,” Chief Gibson said in the email statement. “It was an isolated incident.”

WTXL-TV reports that TCCPD has video footage and several witnesses of the stabbing.

According to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center website, the suspect has two prior arrests, one for petit theft and the other for violation of probation for the grand theft of a motor vehicle.

A TCC student who witnessed the stabbing has requested to remain anonymous for fear of possible retaliation.

The student said there were seven or eight people gathered in the hallway just before the stabbing.

“I think it was a couple of individuals who didn’t like each other,” the student said. The stabbing “was shocking and was startling,” the student remarked.
